Celebrating our Community Connections

7/16/25 - A snapshot of the communities served by surplus food donations through Keep Austin Fed.

This July, Keep Austin Fed is honoring the vibrant, diverse communities we’re privileged to serve which are made possible through strong partnerships with local organizations across the city. Each of our recipient partners plays a unique role in supporting their community, and we’re proud to help expand their impact by reducing food insecurity.

Our largest group of partners, food pantries, are neighborhood-centric locales where individuals and families typically go for  essential food staples like canned goods, pasta, and flour. Keep Austin Fed supplements those staples with healthier options such as produce and other perishable food items.

Keep Austin Fed also supports organizations dedicated to serving specific populations, including older adults, people with disabilities, refugees, and people experiencing homelessness. These groups face a wide range of challenges, but the need for nutritious food is universal. By partnering with Keep Austin Fed, these organizations are able to address the food needs of their clients as part of their larger mission of supporting the whole person.

Keep Austin Fed also delivers surplus food to several affordable housing communities across Austin. Many residents of these communities are on fixed incomes, and expenses like rent or medication often take priority over food. Our food donations provide relief, security, and help people remain housed by freeing up money that they might otherwise spend on food for their families.

In addition to working with a wide network of community partners, Keep Austin Fed also hosts weekly grocery giveaways directly to communities to reach individuals who may not be connected to other services or for whom these events simply offer the most accessible option for receiving food support.

No matter the setting, food access is vital to supporting the well-being of individuals and communities. Keep Austin Fed is proud to work with our wonderful recipient partners and support the many communities that call Austin home. We are grateful to be able to do this freely, equitably, and without barriers.
